Ilah M. Behrens, 88, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa surrounded by her family. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, Iowa. Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 A.M. on Thursday at the church. Interment: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington, Iowa. A Memorial Fund has been established in her name. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Ilah Mae Weber was born May 14, 1927 on a farm near Brandon, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Florence (Peyton) Weber. She was baptized in the church of Christ at the age of 13. Ilah graduated from Brandon High School. In 1946, she moved to Independence, Iowa where she worked at North Western Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. On July 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Roy Otto Nicholas Behrens at Brandon, Iowa. Ilah owned and operated the Dairy Barn and the Crystal Door in Oelwein. She joined the Lutheran Faith on May 25, 1958 and later became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. She also was a member of the Tuesday Tourist Club. Ilah and Roy enjoyed many years at their second home at Clayton, Iowa on the Mississippi. She also enjoyed flower arranging, cooking and spending time with her family. Ilah is survived by her 3 children: Bruce (Kathi) Behrens of Oelwein, Kevin (Kay) Behrens of Lamont and Debra Behrens of Sunland, California; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Sheila Behrens of Greensboro, North Carolina; sister-in-law: Marga Squires of Arlington; brother-in-law: Bill (Marilyn) Behrens of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons: Jeffrey Behrens and Steven Behrens; 2 sisters: Ruth and Marian Weber at infancy; and 1 brother: Harold Weber.
