Lois Harriet Ingels

Lois H. Ingels, 88, of Fayette and formerly of Randalia and Oelwein, died on Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2013 at Maple Crest Manor at Fayette.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church at Maynard, Iowa with Rev. John Kerr officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard and for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, Iowa. A Memorial Fund has been established for First Presbyterian Church, Oelwein Order of the Eastern Star, Special Olympics and the Fayette County 4-H.

Lois Harriet Benzer was born on September 25, 1924 at Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Harry F. & Helen (Taylor) Benzer. Lois moved to Oelwein when she was eight years old and she later graduated from Oelwein High School. Lois worked as a bookkeeper at Butler Hardware. Lois was united in marriage to Marvin Everett Ingels on June 23, 1946 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein, Iowa. Lois and Marvin farmed at rural Randalia for many years until they moved to Oelwein in 1998. Lois also worked at Stepp’s Melons and the Corner Market for many years. Lois moved to Maple Crest Assisted Living in January of 2007.

Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Maynard where she had served in many capacities, Order of the Eastern Star Oelwein Chapter #45, Maynard American Legion Auxiliary and the P.E.O. Oelwein Chapter. Lois had also served as the Mother Advisor for the Fayette Rainbow Girls and served on the Fayette County Extension Youth Council. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years. Lois enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy for others. She thoroughly enjoyed hosting large family gatherings at her home

Lois is survived by her Daughter: Marva Jo (Gene) DeBoer of Adel; Daughter-In-Law: Susan Ingels of Fayette; 5 Grandchildren: Chad (Tammy) Ingels of Randalia, Jeffrey (Allison) Ingels of Maynard, Beth (Mike) Zuehlke of Madison, Wisconsin, Luke (Sarah) DeBoer of Kearney, Nebraska & Laura (Toussaint) Alfani of Boise, Idaho; 9 Great Grandchildren: Colton, Kameryn and Cullen Ingels of Randalia, Ty, Cooper and Brooks Ingels of Maynard, Alexandria and Maxwell Zuehlke of Madison, Wisconsin and Zoe DeBoer of Kearney, Nebraska and a Sister-In-Law: Ruth Roorda of Kankakee, Illinois.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Marvin on July 9, 2003, son: Jim on November 13, 2011 and a brother: Jack Benzer.
